Bass Traps
Low frequency absorption (misleadingly called “bass trapping”) is critical if you want balanced acoustics in a small room. Bass absorbers, or “bass traps”, help you hear the natural frequency balance of your media so that you can create tighter sounding mixes and fully enjoy your music. Mount bass traps in the corners of your room to damp low frequency resonant room modes and reduce nulls caused by bass waves bouncing off the wall behind you. This gives your room a flatter frequency response and more even modal decay times, improving listening clarity and letting you accurately hear the balance and timbre of your mixes. Start with broadband bass traps to gain control of the full bass frequency range. Then, if you want further control consider adding tuned bass traps to target the most problematic room modes.
