An industry standard, the DPA 4007 reference microphone is a high-performance omnidirectional condenser mic with an extremely linear on-axis frequency response from 10 Hz to 40 kHz (±2 dB). It's a close miking specialist that can handle high sound pressure levels – up to 155 dB SPL before clipping occurs. The DPA 4007 has an unbeatable dynamic range of 124 dB from the noise floor to 1% THD (total harmonic distortion), and an extended headroom of 20 dB up to clipping level.

DPA Types 4007 and 4004 are acoustically identical, but differ in their preamplifier powering system (the 4004 is designed to handle approximately 13 dB higher SPL).
