Derived from Bruel & Kjaer's line of world class measurement microphones, the DPA 4004 reference microphone is a high-performance omnidirectional condenser with an extended on-axis frequency response from 10 Hz to 40 kHz (±2 dB). It is made in Denmark.

A close miking specialist, the DPA 4004 specially designed to handle extremely high sound pressure levels – up to 168dB SPL before clipping occurs. It has an unbeatable dynamic range of 124 dB from the noise floor to 1% THD, and an extended headroom of 20 dB up to clipping level.

While acoustically identical to the reference microphone Type 4007, the DPA 4004 differs in the powering system and the fact that it has a transformerless output. Thanks to the special hi-voltage (130 V) powering system, the 4004 can handle approximately 10 dB higher SPL than similar microphone types powered through conventional P48 systems.
